Really enjoyed getting a lot of plates here and sharing family style. They have a lot of servers here who are always around and working. Replacing our silverware and share plates for each course. Refilling waters. Asking if we would like another glass of wine. Very attentive. Things were brought out as separate courses, one at a time so I’d say you could spend a long time in here if you wanted. We were there from about 5:30-8pm.
Good presentation. It seems like they change the menu often. The menu had the full date on it which makes me assume it is changed every single night.
I enjoyed foods I wouldn’t normally like. A very fun experience. I’ve heard about this place for so many years and it was my first time here. It was a bit more casual atmosphere than I expected but they did fine dining well. Cute plating. They had really nice wine glasses and stuff. I liked that all the waitstaff seemed to know a lot about everything. No one ever said “I don’t know”
It seemed to get really full around 6:30 on a weekday; so I would say reservations are recommended.
In total we spent about 500 for Four with drinks and multiple courses. I would definitely visit again.
Have been here multiple times and will definitely come back! Food is amazing! Mainly small plates but you can share with your party. The menu options are interesting and the deserts are delicious. The restaurant is very busy and you need to make a reservation in advance to be able to dine in but it’s worth the wait. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great with low light. The place is also decorated with some very cool art pieces. I don’t believe they have dedicated parking, but there is street parking available in the area.
I will be returning for sure
Great food and dining experience. The quality of the food is about as good as it gets, not just here in Rhode Island. Presentation is really well done without being pretentious.
The whole feel here is surprisingly comfortable and down to earth, even though the food would be appropriate in a more frou-frou setting.
I love that it's low key like that.
Service was on point, there when you need them and invisible otherwise.
Prices are very reasonable. True value for your dollar.
I recently dined at Persimmons Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was one of the most unsatisfactory dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The service was painfully slow, which set a frustrating tone for the evening.
Our appetizer, the deviled eggs, was a major letdown. They were far from the delightful start we had hoped for. Moving on to the Brussels sprouts salad, it was reminiscent of a pre-packaged grocery store salad, lacking any freshness or originality.
The main course didn’t redeem the meal either. The crispy rice salmon was a disappointment, with the fish tasting far from fresh. It’s a basic expectation that a high-quality restaurant should serve fresh fish, and Persimmons fell short of this standard.
The only passable dish was the truffle risotto, but it wasn’t enough to salvage the overall dining experience.
The final letdown came with the tea service. Serving a single tea bag in a teapot at a supposed high-scale restaurant is unacceptable and gives off a stingy impression. Even common coffee shops offer better tea service.
In summary, Persimmons Restaurant fails to live up to expectations in terms of food quality, service, and overall dining experience. It’s not a place I’d recommend, as it doesn’t justify the time, money, or appetite.
Absolutley amazing experience. We were out celebrating our recent promotions and marriage, and this was the perfect spot for it. My wife had wine, and I had the toronto and the boulevardier. I rarley find a location that knows what a boulevardier is nevermind have it on the menu. The cocktails were well crafted and balanced.
We both did the chef's tasting as your entire party needed to do it, and we were overly pleased with the range of dishes we were presented with. You don't know what you are getting, and we both loved nearly every dish that came out. My wife isn't a fan of oysters, which was a part of the appetizers, lucky for me! Each dish took our taste buds in a different direction, some complementing but most contrasting each other, it felt intentionally designed to shock your tongue. Dinner ended with a celebratory dish. They had asked at the beginning if we were celebrating anything, as I imagine most do at this restaurant. The only minor complaint I had, which they had no control over, was the noise level. Twice, we were trying to speak to each other and had to wait until the noise level died down before we could repeat ourselves. Yes, prices are higher than your typical experience, but well worth what we got. Overall, it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.
It was a top shelf experience. Everything we had was excellent the service was great and the setting was cozy and fun. It was very expensive though.
This was probably my favorite culinary experience in all of Providence. And apparently Jacques Pepin comes here too when he’s in town!
The black spaghetti was really tasty and strikingly pretty, and the grated The Thai-inspired desert was super creative and savory-sweet, and the guanaja chocolate tart was delicious. My wife thought the duck breast was the best she’d ever had.
Pics attached including the menu the day we were there. It changes daily based on what local ingredients they get.
This place is absolutely incredible!!! If you go - GET THE CHEFS TASTING! The “five courses” felt like 9. They were all thoughtfully created and excellently executed.
It was amazing from start to finish. We tried mocktails and cocktails, both wonderful. I highly recommend an espresso. Definitely get a deviled egg!
They handled my dairy allergy with thought and care. I didn’t miss a beat compared to the regular menu. Even dessert was amazing!
If you’re in the providence area, persimmon is a MUST!
